Chirp Chirp!

Even when it’s too cold to go outside and explore nature, you can still bring backyard birds of all kinds to your window to watch them enjoy a winter day’s snack. You can make your very own bird feeder with just a few simple items from around the house.

What you need:

-Empty quart sized cardboard milk carton

(A smaller one will work but you won’t be able to fit as much food)

-Scissors

-String, cord, or ribbon

-Bird seed

First, cut a hole about 4 or 5 inches tall into the side of the milk carton.

Next, poke a small hole in the top of the carton to pull a string through it. Make sure the string’s long enough to hang it on a branch and tie it securely.

Third, fill the feeder with birdseed. If you want to make your own, you can check out this website with tons of recipes for all different kinds of birds.

Finally, hang your feeder up on a tree and enjoy your new feathered friends!
