INGREDIENTS:

1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup peeled and diced apple
cinnamon and sugar, for rolling (1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon combined)
oil, for frying

DIRECTIONS:

In a deep skillet or pot, bring 2-3 inches of oil to 375 degrees over medium heat.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Stir in the egg and milk until the batter is smooth.
Toss the diced apples in the lemon juice and add to the batter.
Stir to combine.
Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain for a few minutes.
Toss in the cinnamon and sugar mixture and serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS:

Apples
Melon baller
Cake pop sticks
Caramel
Any additional toppings (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

With the melon baller just scoop out ball sections of the apple. Use a hard, crisp apple when making these. I think green is the best.
Placed them on a cookie sheet with wax paper and stuck cake pop/sucker sticks in them.
Melt the caramel. Dip them in caramel, place on greased sheet of wax paper. Let the caramel cool BEFORE you dip the apples. It has to thicken a little and not be so hot.

INGREDIENTS (for 5):

5 granny smith apples
1 lemon
2 tsp brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
refrigerated pie crust
2 tsp melted butter
heart cookie cutter

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cut off the top of each apple and discard.
Scoop out the inside of each apple. Discard the core and keeping the good stuff in a separate bowl to be used for the apple pie filling. Be careful not to puncture the peel. We used a melon baller to make the process a little bit easier.
Squeeze lemon juice all over your apple pieces.
Mix the cinnamon and both sugars together with the scooped out apple.
Unroll your pie crust and slice into 1/4 inch strips for the lattice pattern. To make the top dough heart shape, simply use a smaller heart cookie cutter.
Cover the top of the apples with a lattice pattern. Recommend 5 strips for each apple.
Brush melted butter onto the crust and sprinkle with sugar.
Place the apples in a baking pan. Add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream and a cold glass of milk!
