Give Thanks: Small Changes Making a Big Impact

Right now, all across the United States, small, healthy changes are happening in schools. You may not read about it in the headlines, but the fact is, 49 schools and 10 school districts are putting small amounts of funding to good use.

The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation (HWCF) through their Together Counts™ program, funds Pre-K through grade 5 schools who demonstrate their ability to effect change. More outdoor play, active classroom breaks, healthy snacks, learning to choose fresh fruits and vegetables when offered and even paving the way toward enabling schools to offer fresh fruits and vegetables where the meals served are the only food some kids get to eat all day.

This works so well with Ask, Listen, Learn because of our commitment to helping kids across the country “say ‘YES’ to a healthy lifestyle and ‘NO’ to underage drinking!” Kids are impacted every day by teachers who try to make a difference and instill healthy habits. Just like Together Counts, AskListenLearn.org has resources to help teachers bring the conversation about peer pressure and alcohol responsibility into the classroom.

We’re so thankful that we can share this news, to help more schools make the most of the free resources and programs made available through TogetherCounts.com.
