The Brain Team Turns ONE!
It’s hard to believe that this time last year we had just relaunched Ask, Listen, Learn with a massive suite of new brain-related content. Before our 2016 launch day, Ask, Listen, Learn had enjoyed over a decade of success as the most highly distributed program of its kind. Underage drinking remains at an all-time low yet, to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of education, we set out to create new content focused on two things: technology and brain science.
We wanted to produce cutting edge digital content, focus on the facts, and keep kids interested and entertained. We developed a comprehensive series of animated videos with corresponding lesson plans designed to teach kids about what the brain does, what alcohol does to it, and what THAT does to them.
Here we are a year later – we’ve cultivated a community of more than 6,000 dedicated parents, teachers, counselors, and school nurses who use our material in the classroom and at home. Our lessons have been downloaded over 16,000 times and our videos have been viewed more than 500,000 times.
We’ve been across the country – from Dallas to Denver to DC to San Diego – talking to educators about their needs in the classroom, what their students struggle with, and how our lessons can be a support.
We’ve worked with diverse partners, who all work hard to make kids healthy and safe, and help us reach broad audiences of educators, including teachers, school counselors, afterschool professionals, and school nurses.
And, we introduced Spanish-language content for parents. Looking back, we’re proud of our accomplishments in our first year, and we can’t help but look forward to all the great things still to come.
We’re excited to engage deeply with our community and get to know how they implement Ask, Listen, Learn in their own unique ways. Look out for opportunities to become an Ask, Listen, Learn Ambassador!
We’ll also explore new education conferences in different parts of the country, expand our Spanish language resources, create new content for parents, and more.
Thank you for being on this journey with us, and for all you do to help kids say YES to a healthy lifestyle and NO to underage drinking. We can’t wait to share everything to come with YOU!
