Mental Health + Kids—Let's Talk – Ask, Listen, Learn

Mental Health + Kids—Let’s Talk

In our collective work to keep kids substance-free, conversations matter. Understanding and embracing mental health is just as important and why we want to share our new resources with you. According to Responsibility.org’s 2025 Parents and Kids Survey, 59% of kids were worried about stress and/or anxiety, and 44% were worried about their mental health. More than 3 out of 4 parents were concerned about both their kids’ stress and anxiety, and mental health. New Ask, Listen, Learn materials—including new video assets—will aid you in supporting your kids’ mental health, talking about stress and anxiety, and explaining the impact of underage drinking and underage cannabis use on their mental health.

Since the adolescent years are critical to development, it is important to help kids adopt good practices for nurturing their mental health and managing stress. Our new resources include a guide for parents with strategies to help you:

  • Talk about mental health at home,
  • Model positive mental health behavior,
  • Recognize signs of a mental health struggle, and
  • Know what to do in a mental health crisis.

These resources build on the existing Ask, Listen, Learn content and are designed to support kids in their abilities to say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle.

We appreciate your partnership as you work to provide your child with healthy ways to cope with stress and anxiety by saying “NO” to unhealthy strategies like underage drinking and underage cannabis use.
