Learn More About Remmi

Why did you decide to create a healthy cooking show?

My mother and I wanted to create a show that would link the skill of cooking to improved nutrition because we were concerned about the childhood obesity epidemic. After a lot of research we did not find any healthy cooking shows for kids by kids. “Cook Time with Remmi” first aired as webcasts on my website in April 2009, and within a month of airing it was picked up by a local cable channel.

What interests you about cooking?

I started to cook when I was four, washing vegetables and putting salads together. I love to experiment in the kitchen and create new recipes. I am also challenged to create healthier versions of recipes. I love to read about the history of the dishes I make and I research the ingredients I use. So, I think food can be very interesting too!

What is your favorite healthy food?

I guess I am fortunate that I do love healthy foods. Strawberries are my very favorite.

In 2009, you won the national "Launch My Dream" Contest, with the dream of "Healthy Kids." What is the "C.H.E.F. Challenge"?

My “C.H.E.F. Challenge” stands for Cook Healthy, Exercise Frequently. Kids from all over the world can sign up for the three-month challenge on my website.

What advice do you have for kids with big dreams for their future?

It’s never too early to think about your dreams and what you want to do in your life. Take steps in the direction of your dreams. In some of my research I came across a quote that I really liked….”If you don’t have a dream, how are you going to make your dream come true?”

Any advice for kids who want to learn more about cooking healthy meals?

Get in the kitchen with your parents and learn to cook some great food. You will have a lot of fun… I promise you. You will also learn to eat healthier… I promise this too!
