New School Year, New Resources: Mental Health – Ask, Listen, Learn

New School Year, New Resources: Mental Health

It’s a new school year—a great time for new resources! We are excited to announce our newest addition to the Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix prevention education curriculum. Building on our existing eight lessons exploring how alcohol and cannabis impact the developing brain, we have expanded the program to include the impact of underage drinking and underage cannabis use on kids’ mental health. Through this  new lesson and animated video students will learn:

  • How mental health relates to the developing brain,
  • Healthy strategies for coping with mental health challenges,
  • The impact of underage drinking and underage cannabis use on mental health, and
  • When and how to seek help from a trusted adult.

Following the format of other Ask, Listen, Learn lessons, this new free content includes an animated video, an educator’s guide, letter to parents (in English and Spanish), classroom handouts, and activities, as well as family resources that you can provide to parents and other adults to encourage conversations about mental health beyond the classroom.

We hope these resources are useful as you work to provide your students with healthy ways to cope with and manage stress and anxiety by saying “NO” to risky behaviors like underage drinking and underage cannabis use.
