Teens Try New Approach to Tackle Underage Drinking and Driving

The Ask, Listen, Learn team is very proud of the 13 high school seniors in Galveston, Texas who worked to produce a video documentary, “Chronicles of a Teen Killer” for the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

The summer months with kids out of school are known to the area as to “100 deadliest days for drivers.” 366 teens were involved in fatal collisions during this time in 2009.

This group of teenagers is trying to change these statistics, similar to The Century Council’s initiatives to stop underage drinking, by encouraging their peers to make safer decisions. Their emotional video includes interviews with a teen that killed her best friend by getting behind the wheel after drinking. With almost 6,000 YouTube hits, the group is definitely getting their message out.

Watch “Chronicles of a Teen Killer” and tell us what you think in the comments below.
