Thank you, Arlington Science Focus!

April 12th, 2012

This morning, Olympian Steven Lopez joined the Ask, Listen, Learn team in Arlington, VA at Arlington Science Focus School to (literally) kick off their day-long healthy lifestyle event.  The ALL team played our Xavix game with fourth graders and Steven answered questions about his training, daily diet and even showed off some tae kwon do moves!

Thank you to Physical Education teacher Ms. Jennifer Hall and the school administration for inviting us!  We’re so glad the Ask, Listen, Learn game is a key part in teaching your students say YES to a healthy lifestyle, and NO to underage drinking!

We’re bringing Ask Listen Learn to Henrico!

June 23rd, 2011

Today, we’re helping the public schools of Henrico County, VA to Ask, Listen, Learn. Each class will receive a set of our Ask, Listen, Learn brochures and our Ask, Listen, Learn game.

The brochures help to facilitate the conversation between educators and students regarding the dangers of underage drinking, while the game provides both education and exercise. Studies show that students who are active are less likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as underage drinking, and are able to better learn

We’d like to thank Henrico County for their initiative and ensuring that their students say “Yes” to a healthy lifestyle, and “No” to underage drinking!

Apolo Anton Ohno heads to Arlington, Laurel, MD!

April 21st, 2010

Apolo Anton Ohno joined The Century Council for two events yesterday, one at Arlington Science Focus Elementary School in Arlington, VA and one at Dwight D Eisenhower Middle School in Laurel, MD.

We started off the day at Arlington Science Focus Elementary School. Joined by US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, Apolo ran the kids through the basics of our Ask, Listen, Learn interactive activity. Then the kids got their turn. We had a great time with the kids of Arlington Science Focus Elementary School – fantastic kids, and we sure hope they’ll continue to say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle and “NO” to underage drinking.

That afternoon, we headed to Dwight D Eisenhower Middle School in Laurel, MD. The kids here were a bit older, but just as enthusiastic. We’d like to send a special thank you to the office of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and his staff for helping to arrange the visit! Check out pictures from the event below!
