AG Tim Fox Joins Ask, Listen, Learn in Great Falls, MT!

November 19th, 2013

Today, Ask Listen Learn headed west to Great Falls, MT, to visit North Middle School! Joining us for another great event was Attorney General Tim Fox, who spoke to 700 7th and 8th graders about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of underage drinking.

The students warmly welcomed the Attorney General – and it’s no wonder since he himself grew up in Hardin, right near Billings. And, while he went to the University of Montana, he said he was proud to be a North Middle Grizzly today!

The Attorney General quizzed the students on what an AG does and how long it takes alcohol to affect their bodies (just 30 seconds!). He also shared two stories about his experiences in middle school and high school. First, he shared that he was in chorus and played the trumpet in the band. Sadly, due to some fellow students’ poor choices to drink alcohol underage, they were sent home and unable to participate in the ensemble. Second, he shared that he played football, basketball and ran track. Unfortunately, some students chose to drink in high school, preventing his teams from playing in the state championships.

The lessons he shared were that the choices we make affect others, as well as ourselves. Mistakes can be made, but some mistakes can’t be undone. He reminded the students that drinking at their age is not just illegal, but dangerous.

Then, we had some fun playing the Ask, Listen, Learn game where the Attorney General got on the game and ran! He definitely showed the kids how it’s done! At the end of the assembly, the Attorney General even shared his special AG pin with Dr. Anderson for such a great event!

Thanks so much to North Middle School, Dr. Anderson and Attorney General Fox! We had a wonderful time in Montana, talking to kids about saying YES to a healthy lifestyle and NO to underage drinking.

Thank you, Helena Middle School!

Attorney General Steve Bullock joined the Ask, Listen, Learn team today at Helena Middle School. We had an audience of over 200 6th graders, and they were fantastic! We were very impressed with their commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

They all had a great time playing the Ask, Listen, Learn game, and through it, learned a lot about alcohol’s effects on the body.

A big thank you to Attorney General Steve Bullock – his commitment to the students of Montana made this possible.

And a big thank you to the kids of Helena Middle School too! They were enormously enthusiastic – and we have the evidence to prove it, below.
