It’s Red Ribbon Week, a time to focus on prevention and character education in schools, and we are excited to share our resources to send one important message to kids: Say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle and “NO” to underage drinking! This week, we want YOU to do the same....

Moms (and dads too), you are doing a great job! In fact, our research shows that 76% of parents have talked to their kids at least once in the past year about alcohol consumption. And when conversations about alcohol go up, underage drinking rates go down.  

April is always one of the busiest months of the year—Alcohol Responsibility Month—and this past April was no exception. From running our first contest to working with Olympians, from teaming up with Scholastic to releasing new videos, we had an amazing month full of activities, milestones, and hard work. Just take a look at all of the things we did.

We are happy to work with an impactful team of blog ambassadors who bring a fresh mindset to our main mission: inspiring parents to have conversations with their kids and encouraging them to say YES to a healthy lifestyle and NO to underage drinking.

If I have one golden piece of parenting advice, it’s the Erma Bombeck quip to not have more kids than you have windows in your car. If I had a second piece of parenting advice, it would be that car trips are the best time to have deep conversations with your children.

I was glad that I had prepared and that we had discussed the many topics around drinking before. This was the first time, though, that we had put those conversations into action.  I was reminded that Alcohol Responsibility Month is not just about our kids, but also our roles as parents. I was reminded in a direct way that it’s our responsibility to be clear with ourselves and our kids on where we stand on underage drinking and why, what we are comfortable with, and to educate our kids about the facts.
